With instruction from a professional ballerina, and playlists that include everything from blues, rock, pop and electro music Ballet Move is a VERY unique way to stay strong and fit. This live online class is easy to follow and suitable for all abilities as we make sure to offer modifications on all exercises.

Ballet Move is facilitated by Sheena Chundee, former choreographer and ballerina with The Royal Ballet, London and Director of Rebel Stepz Arts. Sheena commenced her dance journey at the tender age of 5, eventually earning a scholarship to The Royal Ballet and transitioning to full-time training by age 11. Alongside her rigorous training, she performed with The Royal Ballet Company and various dance companies such as Netherlands Dance Theatre, The Australian Ballet, and The English National Ballet, delving into choreography and pioneering roles in new productions.

Sessions begin with a gentle warm-up combining stretching and simple movements. We then move on to barre-inspired techniques that help you to tone, strengthen, and lengthen muscles. There's the option to use a chair or your very own ballet barre if you're lucky enough to have one!

Each exercise can be adapted to suit all levels, so if you're finding something a little hard, we can give you modifications that will make things easier.

Exercises are low-impact which means there's no stress on the joints and we take plenty of time to stretch in between exercises allowing you to catch your breath and release any tension. We also integrate mat work exercises which means we activate different areas of our bodies and learn how to strengthen and use muscles in different ways.
Don't worry, there's no jumping, or turning and combines breathing and yoga techniques.

By signing up for this session, you wil be contributing to supporting dance and the arts!

All proceeds of this session will go towards the development of a new project called 'TOUCH IGNITED'.

TOUCH IGNITED is a new creation that merges Bharatanatyam (Indian classical dance) and neo-classical ballet, resulting in the emergence of a captivating new dance form with an ensemble cast of dancers.This fusion of diverse cultural and stylistic elements within the performance serves as a poignant expression of acceptance and unity, highlighting the profound beauty and strength that emanate from mutual understanding and inclusivity.

This new project champions multiculturalism and empowers artists of color. The work promotes diversity and provides a platform for two talented female artists of color to educate and enlighten audiences about culture, beliefs, traditions, and incredibly potent art forms. You'll be helping us create employment opportunities for dancers, musicians, and theatre technicians and also helping to advance the Australian sector and its audiences.

Workshops can be organised in person (for those based in Melbourne) or online for other areas of Australia.

Choose from visual art classes, movement classes, craft workshops that can be mixed and matched over a day, morning or afternoon.

Rebel Stepz also offers live entertainment for your event which can include live musicians and dancers and even a custom piece that can be produced and choreographed especially for your event.
