If you love using reusable bags, this is a workshop for you!

This Canberra crochet workshop aims to provide participants with a solid foundation for creating a crochet market bag adorned with a decorative mandala base. Crafted with 100% organic cotton yarn for both sustainability and durability. It is the perfect reusable bag for an eco-conscious lifestyle. Its large size is ideal for the shops or a trip to the pool.

The pattern is written in UK terms and includes a diagram to assist with the base. Converting to US terms can be discussed during the class.

The class is suitable for crocheters with experience in basic stitches and working in the round. Building on from the basics, we'll work through the following stitches to make the bag:

  • Magic Loop
  • Double treble crochet
  • Triple treble crochet
  • Front post crochet stitches

We'll be working with Laines Du Nord, Organic Cotton in 5ply. Closer to our workshop, I'll ask you to choose your colour from our website. Your skeins will be wound into cakes prior to the class.

Please bring along your own 3.5mm crochet hook.

Scissors, darning needles, and stitch markers will also be available to use during the class.

My name is Leah. I’m the owner and creator behind This Lush Corner an online fibre store and now a learning space to help you dive into a new craft.
I’m an accredited teacher through the Australian Crochet Guild and bring my lifelong experience in crochet and fibre crafts. I am a lover of not only crochet, but knitting, machine knitting, basket weaving and Pine needle basketry crafts.

I choose slow fashion, mending and repurposing rather than disposal, it’s about quality over quantity. There's something special about the process of creating or repairing something by hand—it's a mindful activity that allows us to slow down and appreciate the craftsmanship involved.
It's a way to preserve traditional crafts and pass on knowledge from one generation to the next.

If you are ready to try your hand at a new skill, then let’s jump in and discover the joy of making together!
